Christmas at Wylds Christmas Tree Farm

As some of you may or may not know we absolutely LOVE Christmas.  We have been getting our Christmas tree from Wylds Christmas Tree farm for the last few years and it’s something that we always look forward to all year long.

So last year we decided to get in touch and see if they would be interested in us bringing up our fire pits to cook for all of the hungry Christmas tree hunters……..They said yes.

When we got the news that we would be cooking at the farm for the month we were super excited. We started thinking about all the things we had eaten at German Christmas markets (actually in Germany) over the years and we knew that there were three things that had to go on the menu, sausage, sauerkraut and kartoffelpuffer (that’s potato cakes for all of you non-German speaking people).

The first day of trading came and we felt our usual bout of self-doubt as to whether the guests would enjoy our German fire food menu. But we didn’t have to worry, our food went down a treat with the clear best seller being ‘Ze German’, a pretzel bun filled with our grate’s own recipe smoked sausage, potato cake and low and slow pork belly and sauerkraut.

The whole month was incredible, everyone from the staff to the guests were in full festive spirit making it just a great way to spend the best month of the year. Even though the end of our time at the Christmas tree farm meant that Christmas was finally around the corner, we were sad to have had to dismantle our firepits and our temporary home….and we were still loving every single Christmas song going. We made new friends along the way and cannot wait to come back with even more Christmas cheer for the 2022 season…..
